California's response was Proposition 1 on the November 2022 ballot, which would protect an individual's decision for an individual to have abortion within California. Within the Berkeley community, a poll by the Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies found that 71% of participants believed that an amendment guaranteeing reproductive rights should be passed. The city of Berkeley has repeatedly explicitly stated its support and dedication to protect reproductive rights.
